Migrapass

Since the Amsterdam treaty in 1997, migration has become a competence of the European Union. The Leonardo da Vinci programme »lifelong learning« refers to key competences as knowledge, skills and appropriate professional behaviour.
Thanks to their mobility experience, migrants have developed a special competence, a kind of “meta-competence”. They face diverse discriminations in their guest society context as well as on the labour market. Not only excluded from certain employment or training for reasons alleged objective as the lack of language skills, they often feel impelled to accept low qualified employment with difficult working conditions. Migrapass is proposing a portfolio and a collaborative training which allows migrants to express their experience and value their competence. It is based upon knowledge and competence acquired on professional, social and personal pathways. Valuing competence is a key issue to enhance self-reflection, self-confidence, social and occupational integration. The portfolio will allow migrants to identify and express professional experience acquired in their native country, formal and informal learning but also to value the competence linked to their migration. The portfolio contains also elements of the personal biographies of the migrant, namely living in a different culture and country. Professional profiles will be enriched by competences required in a changing living environment where the ability to adapt and mobility are key assets. The proposed training is focused on a collaborative approach corresponding to the special public of the migrants. The main goal of the collective work is to empower migrants to struggle against exclusion linked to their status.
Migrapass is answering the European priority of “Developing professional abilities according to the needs of the labour market — New competence for new employment” (LEO-Tralnno-4)
